Meet Hiking Leaders Alex Ash, Rin Ball and Angelina Ramirez!
Meet Angelina Ramirez. I have been a Girl Scout for nearly 20 yrs. I run a super troop in my town of over 30+ scouts, Co-Director of Kayak North Day Camp, and one of the leaders of the YAYAs program. I am an alumni of YAYA hikers. I started hiking in the group as a 6th grader in fall 2009 and have been hiking and backpacking with them ever since. I have GS outdoor training, all necessary leader training, first aid, wilderness first aid plus 18 years of hiking experience.
Meet Alex Ash.
Meet Rin Ball. I have been a Gril Scout for over 20 years. I am a regular volunteer at Girl Scout Cascade Challenge and a leader of the YAYAs program. I am an alumni of YAYA hikers. I started hiking with the group as a 9th grader in spring 2010 and have been adventuring with them ever since. I love leading a group that encourages scouts to be outside their comfort zone and become comfortable with themselves. I have required GS trainings, am a Wilderness First Responder, and over 23 years of hiking and backpacking experience.
Retired Leader, Mentor Ellen Dahill Govan, Girl Scouts of Western Washington Council volunteer, started the YAYA Hiker program in September 2002. The goal, bring together Girl Scouts from any troop that wish to hike. I’ve been a Girl Scout/leader/volunteer for 45+ years. We created classes Hiking 101 and Backpacking 101 workshops to train scouts on how to be prepared for hiking, expand their horizons, and for those interested, to help them complete some badge requirements. I too have all the necessary Girl Scout trainings: GS Outdoor Education, plus Wilderness First Aid. And miles of trail dirt (mud) under my soles…..
